Rain Rain Rain

Postby kinelbor » Sun Oct 16, 2005 3:34 pm

It was been raining pretty hard this weekend, and for the last few weekends we have had rain also. This is Bearsley Brook as of today. Its only a mile or so below my house. (Hey Buzzard Wing if you see this, the signs on top of the hill are where the snowmobile trail you were on crosses Rista Road.)

Yup, down here at t'other end of the state we're in the same boat. The level on my lake has come up over a foot-so much so that my dock almost floated off. The dock is now tied to a tree.

Forgot to mention that this is a small brook. Most of the river is about 15 feet wide and 1 foot deep. It flows through 2 culverts. The town wont put a bridge in. This is the second time this year this has happened, once in spring and once now.

I sure hope there is some road under that water........

Drove through today, the road didnt get washed away. Good thing too, I drive on that part of the road almost every day. Lot of rain, everthing is soaked.

Yikes! It has done some raining south of you too. Northern ME missed the biggest rain weekend before last (7" in western Maine), but looks like they made up for it this week!

The sky broke, just as I rolled into NE Cubfest, so we had pretty decent weather for most of the day there.

Sorry Nic, but I think it looks different under a couple of feet of snow??

Guess it is best not to say anything about the lack of rain, cause the last two weeks have sure made up for it!

Hey guys...We'll be glad ta send y'all a few Tennessee Valley Authority engineers to solve the problem, OR...y'all can buy out all the low-lying farms for $400.00 an acre...force everyone on them to leave...bulldoz the large buildings (leave the silos for good fish habitat)...build a hydro-electric dam at the lowest point...and FLOOD till desired level is reached!
