White Components on a 49 Cub?

Postby rcupka » Sun Jan 14, 2018 10:26 pm

I have been working to get my 49 going. My serial number is 74733 which would be right in the middle of 1949 production. I have notice several components with whit paint under the red paint.

My right front spindle and axle is showing white paint. When I cleaned may air cleaner, it had white paint under the red on the body and oil cup.

Am I likely looking at a Cub that just had some components swapped out from a later tractor? Air Cleaner, Axles, Wheel hubs, etc...

Or perhaps the bolster had been replaced with an earlier one and yours IS a demo. Have you checked the engine serial number and casting dates of major components to see what year(s) they were made? Just a thought... :big give up:

Also if it has ever been repainted you could be seeing primer. One of my tractors has white primer on it.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
