I have been working to get my 49 going. My serial number is 74733 which would be right in the middle of 1949 production. I have notice several components with whit paint under the red paint.
My right front spindle and axle is showing white paint. When I cleaned may air cleaner, it had white paint under the red on the body and oil cup.
Am I likely looking at a Cub that just had some components swapped out from a later tractor? Air Cleaner, Axles, Wheel hubs, etc...

Or perhaps the bolster had been replaced with an earlier one and yours IS a demo. Have you checked the engine serial number and casting dates of major components to see what year(s) they were made? Just a thought...

Also if it has ever been repainted you could be seeing primer. One of my tractors has white primer on it.
