How much gap is there between the 2 shafts when all is assembled? Up to about 1/8 inch is normal.

At the lower left of this picture is the pin that sits in the clutch groove. Several have suggested it might be worn. If the pin wears about 1/3 or more through, it will not move the clutch forward far enough to engage the splines of the input shaft. I would suggest checking this before you too much more.

I guess everyone looks at a picture a little different. I see a damaged bearing and I seea worn pto pilot bushing, but the shaft does not appear broken to me, unless it was a very smooth break. It appears that the shaft has slid forward, as I mentioned can happen earlier. Did you find a piece of the broken shaft in the bottom of the housing?

you are part of the problem!!!

Well no BUT medal shavings came off and were sticking off the end of it. I did however speak to a gentleman with TM tractors he looked at the pictures I emailed him and he seems to think the same at least in that the bushing in the input shaft went bad therefore that clutch assembly chewed up the end of the input shaft he doesn't believe there is enough shaft to hold a new bushing and suggested I buy a new input shaft that comes with the bushing which is also reasonably priced. thank you everyone for all your suggestions and input and I will keep you posted with what route I choose I do plan to overhaul the cub this summer I believe it will be a fine tractor for quite some time or I hope LOL

Since it has been established that this is a regular Loboy and not a number series, I have moved this thread to the correct forum so others can see it and chime in.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.
