Prewitt Post Hole Digger Pics Needed

Anybody have one? I need some pics. I tried searching the forum but only find broken photobucket links. Mainly need pics of how they mount on a non-fast hitch cub. Thanks

Sorry about all the broken links (Photobucket issues).

Yes, those are pics of my '48 Cub. Since mine is not a fast hitch, you'd have to fabricate something. See my response to your PM.

I believe it just bolts to the drawbar. At this time I cannot find the instructions I have which does not help you at all but I will keep looking. In the past I copied and sent a set to Stanton. Not sure if they really show exactly how it mounts. I do know that at one time Dad did have it mounted on our Cub but since that was sometime around '62 or '63 I have no recollection. When we inherited a 8N Dad bought the parts to mount it on it,and this is how I used and remember it. One thing I don't see on Stanton's is ours has a small frame that is mounted to the bottom of the digger. It has a small loop welded to it where you attach a rope. When you get to where you are going to dig a hole the frame swings down and almost touches the ground. As the digger pulls down as it digs, that frame touches the ground and supports the rear,I think it's there to keep the tractor from squatting and possibly to keep the front wheels from lifting.

The post hole digger mounts to a drawbar, but not the Cub drawbar. The drawbar included with the Prewitt digger is made of angle iron, with reliefs cut out for each final drive inner bearing.

Here's an instruction sheet that J.R. Prewitt produced.

Here's a brochure showing a Farmall 300 with a fast hitch and digger.

Went and looked over the cub digger parts right where Dad put them 44 ish years ago. Sure enough there is a "drawbar" made out of 2 angles with notches in them and a flat plate-

Image

Here is a couple of pictures of the drop down stand,it's just made of angle iron and pivots on 2 bolts. As you know this thing is heavy, the bottom of the stand is buried in the gravel when we moved it into position .

Image

Here looking underneath you can see the pivot bolts-

Guess with photobucket's ransom I can't figure out how to post pictures from another 3rd party site. If they don't show up let me know.I'll try again

Here's some pics from my post hole digger. Hope they help.

This last picture you can see the side mounting bracket in the upper right of the pic with the notch cut out to go around the final drive hub.

I'm on my computer at work, but remember taking some pics of the assembly bracket some time back. They must be on my computer at home. I'll take a look. Let me know if you still need more pics or these are enough.
