Brace/Support question

Postby ShawnAgne » Tue Nov 21, 2017 10:10 pm

Been seeing pictures around with people that have braces/supports from the back half to the bolster. When is something like that needed? The most stress my Cub will have is pushing snow (if we ever get any) or plowing the garden (if I'm bored and want to play with the plow).

Are the braces similar to this. They are made to help prevent cracking of the engine ear where it mounts to the bolster.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I have a set on my loader tractor to reinforce the engine. There was a problem with the engine block cracking at the right front ear. I believe it may have been fixed in early to mid 48, because it is rare to see one with that problem after that.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Yes those are the braces. Was just wondering if that is something I should/need to add to my 51 Cub.

My Cub is a 47, and it doesn't have that brace. Question is, should I and where can one buy this brace?

So far, Paul and Ringo have arrived. John and George were supposed to follow ages ago, but apparently have gone awol. Long story.

I understand this is an old post but thought I would try anyways.

Has anyone ever put a brace like the one discussed above on a Super A. This one has a small crack from abuse in the lower corner of the block below the governor that has been successfully welded,,, so far... To minimize stress on the weld I was thinking about adding a brace like what has been added on some cubs. Has it been done before and does anyone think it would help any. Thanks!
