??? about buying from Ebay

Postby Steve Ruddy » Sun Oct 09, 2005 12:18 pm

I need a fast hitch, plow, disc harrrow and rock rake for my cub. I have had no luck on this forum or the local paper. Has anyone purchased items like this on Ebay? If so what type of searches did you do? I seem to not have the nack for finding things there. Myabe I'm just not using the right words? Also if you can tell me of any other sources that would be good to monitor for these items it would be greatly appreciated. Frustrated :?

I usually search for "Farmall Cub" and "International Cub" when I am looking for Cub stuff. There usually isnt more than 5-7 pages so it doesnt take long to look through all of it. Happy Ebaying :D

As I said in my other posting, fast hitch stuff is HARD to find, even on Ebay. When you do find it, expect to pay big $$$.

You can search something like this:
cub -cadet fast hitch

The minus means NOT cadet so it won't find any cub cadet stuff (shouldn't be a problem for fast hitch)

The easiest way is to make it an 'automatic' search that will send you an email whenever new items show up that match your search. You can select how often it sends the email.

Also, it you want to get an idea of what has gone on in the past.... use that same search from this page http://search.ebay.com/ (or advanced search) and check the 'Completed Listings' button. This will show you listings that are finished. Green is sold price. Today that turned up one fast hitch that sold for $265 in KY. The seller would ship it to me for about $150.

Don't be in too much of a hurry and be careful about making sure ALL the needed hardware is with it. A stray missing part can reallly trip you up.

It may be worthwhile to drop in the chat room during the evening as ask the boys (and girls) there about the item you are looking at, usually there is someone around (John and Big Dog for example) that knows what to look for.

Good luck.

Thanks Buzzard Wing. I didn't know about the ability to see completed listings. That should be a good pricing resource. I'll check out the chat room as well I'm not sure I new there was one or thought about using it for that.

Yep, the completed listings is the ONLY way to get a real idea of what happens to stuff.

A friend of mine is always saying something like... there is a set of front wheel weights on ebay cheap. It's not over till the buyer has it in his hands and the seller has the green.

Something else to look for is a whole Cub with a fast hitch on it. The seller may sell it separate (if the cub doesnt sell) or the buyer may not want it and would be willing to sell the fast hitch.

Again, it seems to work well for me to be patient and keep your eyes open.

Ralph on the board may come by them occasionally too.....

eBay

I've bought TONS of implements and parts off eBay, including my radiator, my grille, battery box, numerous gaskets, an IH-1000 loader, and lots and lots of miscellaneous parts like switches, my "slow moving vehicle" sign, new belts, etc.

For a sure-fire purchase of a *quality*, *tested* implement or part, I always go to TM Tractor, at http://www.tmtractor.com, or one of our other sponsors, like JP Tractor Salvage http://www.jptractorsalvage.com, where you can buy whole tractors!

When I bought my 57 I didn't know there was a fast hitch with it. PO had replaced it with home made drawbar so he could hook up the Mott flail mower. I later sold the 57 and kept the fast hitch for my 53.
