throttle problem

My throttle goes fro idle to full throtlle with nothing in between. It will also start creepinp up if its off the low position. What do you think is the problem?

Check the spring on the governor rod on the front of the engine.

....Probably every one is still hanging in at Cecils Rob....Ed left this morning but has a 5 1/2 hour jaunt....I had that problem on my loader cub and it was governor related as was mentioned...In my case the tractor had set a long time till I refurbished it and I kept spraying the gov spring and playing with the linkage and it corrected itself...Good luck Dave

Check the weights on the Governor, I had one of the weight pins work loose years ago, or could be the weight assembly is stuck on the shaft. Good luck, Chuck

Hi,
The linkage ahead of the carburetor needs adjusting correctly before taking the governor out for inspecting.
The little yoke has to be set in the right position on the rod so the governor responds right. :)

I've noticed the spring holes are wallered out on both ends. also when i move the throttle from low to high , the linkage has a lot of play when moved to mid throttle.

I took the tank off and decided to change the spring since the old one looked different than the replacement one i had one in my box. Is there a trick to changing it? Swearing doesn't help, i've tried that.

Rob, I haven't done it, but I think Yogie cut a small piece off the ends of the spring to make it easier to insert into the lever.
