Michigan Cub Fest

Postby meandmydeere » Fri Oct 06, 2017 10:20 am

Looking for opinions. Do you think we could have a Cub Fest in Michigan in 2018. I am the President of the Antique Farm Power Club. We have our annual show at the Muskegon County Fairgrounds about 8 miles east of Muskegon. We hold the show the 2nd weekend of June. We have plenty of room and I want to expand our show. Free camping to exhibitors. This year our feature tractor is "anything that starts with a C". If your interested, let me know. I would like to make this an annual thing. We are a fun club. No politics allowed.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Mark,
Not sure how much this would impact attendance but Red Power Roundup is June 13-16, 2018 in Montgomery, Alabama.

Good to see you back on the forum!

U.K.C. Premier is usually in Kalamazoo then. B-93 Birthday bash too.
I stay home with the dogs that don't go.
Don't let that make anyone think a Cub Fest in Muskegon is not a great idea that weekend though.

Mark,
Set a date and go for it! That is basically how Kansas Cubfest happened.

When we were trying to decide what to do, we got some great advice from the late George Willer.
Here are some excerpts:

Ike,

Don't sweat the planning thing... get a few good guys together and it will all fall into place on that day.

At the first CubFest here's how the agenda was planned... "OK now, who has something that needs fixed?" No schedule at all. We kept pretty busy.

I'm looking forward to our third one Saturday and have no agenda other than a bunch of various projects we'll do in no particular order. We're planning to send out for pizza and subs to ward off starvation just as we did last January.

Most important of all... Make new and renew old friendships!!!!!!!!

George Willer

Kansas Cubfest usually has a project or two, but the day has become more about the camaraderie than seeing how many projects we can do.

Set a date and time. I bet some Cub folks will show up! :tractor:

I'm up for that. Originally from Saginaw and would be nice to come back, (warm weather of course), and then maybe up to Mackinaw Island with the girlfriend after the fest.

Might be a great time. I just got back from Cecil's CubFest that is the same amount of travel east as your would be going west, plus my BIL lives in Kalamazoo. Sounds like I ought to make plans to attend. Keep us informed.

I'm about two hours out of Muskegon. That is a busy time for me but you cannot get a time that does not happen for someone. Busy but not necessarily impossible. Vern
