One of my Cubs is 12V and a group 26R battery works best with the battery cable arrangement. Good Luck with your conversion. Frank

Hi Swihart_art. I just saw your post here. We have been in the electrical rebuild business for a long. If you haven't gone through and converted to 12volt yet I would consider getting a good American made 6volt regulator for your generator. The cheap 30$ foreign ones don't last at all. They are junk. And as for the starter, there is no way of converting them to 12volts. Obviously you can run 12v to the 6v starter but it is hard on them. And your starter would probably be fine with a rebuild kit. Also check your armature for shorts and grounds. You don't want the copper commutator end to ground out the the steel parts of the amrmature. If it does. It's no good and non usable. If there's any questions your more than welcome to PM. Hope your able to resolve you problem.
