So I’m gett My ready to tear into the transmission of my son’s cub. It has some clicking, grinding and whining noises at times. Pulled the cover and the gears look good but I’m not sure about the bearings. This tractor had set for ten years before I git it so I need to do seals and stuff anyhow.
Does anyone has a list of bearing and race part numbers crossed over to Timken. I figure that’s what they most likely are nd it might be a bit cheaper to go that route.
Also what all do you guys used for support stands and such. Pics would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Keith.

Re: Transmission Bearings
I had the trans out of a severely abused offset loboy...and the countershaft bearings were good but the input bearing was a little frosty. Be warned...if you pull the countershaft you enter the bevel gear setup zone....ive done quite a few different ones and the only thing i ever guarantee is a good pattern....you get whatever noise you get...
Do put a new low-rev sliding gear in....its on the main shaft...

Re: Transmission Bearings
If you have shims keep them together and I zip tie them loosely. Mark which side they were on.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Re: Transmission Bearings
Hi,
Below is a recent post with info about the transmission.
My post, about half way down the page has info about the splitting stands, parts manual pics, and the Cub service manual, I would read the transmission and PTO sections in it first, before taking it apart.

You might have repaired it before now, I guess this post was begun months ago.
