hydraulics

Postby davesfirstcub » Fri Jul 21, 2017 8:03 am

Hi everyone, First of all I would like to thank everyone for all there assistance even though this is my first post I have been following and learning from the forum for a couple of years. I recently acquired a second cub ( a 47) and it has hydraulics on it . my question is can i fill it with hydraulic oil or do I need the IH touch control oil? difference being a 2 mile trip to the auto store or a 80 mile trip to the dealer. Thanks again for all the help.

Hydraulic oil that is Hy-Tran compatible will work. That's what I put in the one I just rebuilt and have been running in our other one for 7+ years with no problems.

Any 1209 compatible fluid will work. Check the label for compatibility.

I am a new cub (1947) owner. I hope this is the right place to ask my question. My tractor does not have a hydraulic system. I would like to install one, but I don't know where to start. Is there a video or any instructions how to get started. What is needed. Thanks.

The hydraulic parts can get pretty pricey really fast....i have a couple of guys near me that make a living parting cubs out. Find you one of those kind and shoot them a number. Probably will have to spend upwards of 500 to get everything. Or....a parts cub....

For the fluid, I use Napa brand in mine, just have to make sure it's the kind that says hy tran compatible. It will say it right on the front.
