Whats it worth
Hi everyone new to this page I have been around farmalls my whole life and lately I've been fixing and flipping mostly just to fund my dream of getting an mdta but anyway I recently aquired a 50 cub from a local barn completely original paint is rough but runs and drives great everything works as it should but here's the catch it came with the original bill of sale from the dealer I've been told that makes it quite desireable to a serious collector dose anyone have any idea what it might be worth due to that ? Or do I send it to auction I've been getting 1500-2000 for them + or - implements interested to know what you guys think thanks

Re: Whats it worth
I had the original invoice on '47 Circle Cub, serial #17__ (don't remember the last two digits). I didn't pay more to get the invoice and I didn't get more when I sold it with the invoice. The invoice on a '50 would be even less valuable than a '47 invoice. My thoughts, worth what you paid for them.

Re: Whats it worth
A lot of things I could say about people inflating prices on parts and cubs but I think Bill's answer covers it nicely....Worth what you paid for it....

Re: Whats it worth
Cubs are popular, but not really collectors items due to number made. In the IH line only the H and M sold more, and in a recent survey on Yesterdays Tractors Cub was the 8th most popular tractor in the U.S. Thins such as original bill of slae or original paint have very little effect on price. The ecxception to that would be if it were one of the first couple hundred made, or in the last couple hundred, but even then it would only be a small difference.

Re: Whats it worth
JMHO, your tractor (any tractor or anything else) is worth what you as the seller are willing to accept and a buyer is willing to pay. Some buyers overpay and some sellers accept less than the "going price". It's all about negotiation to find that happy medium.

Re: Whats it worth
Consider that at an estate auction, family members frequently bid up other family members for items that belonged to the parents or grandparents.
Next issue is that tractors that sell for way more than average price have unusual features or are in almost museum preparation condition.
My uncle use to tell me, the tractor is worth what it will bring at auction.

And when you buy anything at auction you pay more than EVERYBODY else there thinks it's worth.Eugene wrote:.......My uncle use to tell me, the tractor is worth what it will bring at auction.

Re: Whats it worth
If you can get $2000 for it, take it and don't look back. I know you're really squeezing to have this tractor be something special, but to be frank, it isn't. It's just another Cub.

Re: Whats it worth
I seen a post on facebook from a guy who put $4500 in his Cub and wants $5500 for it. As with most things, you usually don't get out of it what you put into it. If you restore or fix up an item with the ideal of making money when you resale it, you usually will not recoup what you put into it. The item will only sell for what the market demands on it, unless you find that one guy who just has to have it.
