Valve job?

Postby Eahlemeier » Thu Jun 22, 2017 10:26 pm

Ok guys Iv been tinkering around on my cub for a while and she seems to run pretty well. She had a long rough life before my hands and I'm looking to get in and clean up the valves but this is something Iv never done... can anyone lead me in a direction and maybe give some pointers? Thanks ahead of time!

As long as the Cub is running well and no other problems- - - do not work on the tractor to clean up the valves.

If you want to clean up the valves and cylinders, run SeaFoam in the crankcase and fuel. This will remove deposits.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I do agree with Eugene. Do not go looking for trouble. A lot can go wrong and it has to be worth the risk. Plus while the head is off you want to get the it machined and do the valve seats. The list never ends.

Do the valve job if you have a valve problem after doing a wet dry compression test or have to pull the head because of a coolant leak.

As Eugene said "SeaFoam in the crankcase and fuel" and I like to also squirt it in the spark plug holes and let it sit overnight or longer. After the seafoam has had some time to clean the valves do a valve adjustment per the manual.
