The repair and installation of this light is in the future but I am curious as to how they work. The red light flash by itself and must therefore require a 4 position light switch? So would it be:
Position 1-Off
Position 2-Headlights
Position 3-Headlights and Tail Light
Position 4-Headlights and Flashing Red Light?

Re: Rear Combo Light
early 6 volt lights have a switch mounted on the light itself to change red to white, from about 58 and up it was controlled through the light switch, the red flasher uses a turn signal 552 flasher to make it flash, that was only on 12 volt cubs

Re: Rear Combo Light
Hi,
Here is a listing at TM Tractor for a new 6 volt combo rear light.
The switch on top of it changes it from white to red. They do not flash, the red is a tail light.
If it is a 1955 or 1956 Cub, it uses the 3 position switch, as far as I know.
Below is a page from the 1955 Cub owner's manual showing the light.

Re: Rear Combo Light
I am still unclear as to why there would be a dimmer resister....6V headlights don't seem that bright to begin with. I wonder what the original reason was for including?
