...why the starter was just free-spinning. I'm thinking a heavy application of Magic Putty, JB Weld, and 20 year old Bondo should fix it. :{_}:

New one is on its way from Steiner.

Who sells just the spring? I'll gladly cancel my Steiner order as the rest of my bendix drive is in good shape.

Going to an auto parts store be sure to take the old part. Those starters were made in a CW and CCW configuration, and you need the correct one. IH was not the only company that used them.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Anyone happen to know the cross-reference for the F-3137 drive spring?

EDIT: I called a few different NAPA stores in my area and gave them the old Bendix # for the spring (F-3137) and the Delco # (1858546). Neither was able to be of any assistance. I'll just wait for the one from Steiner. :(

Don't forget duct-tape, you got to have something to hold all that in while it sets up nice and hard.

Thanks Jim. Too late to cancel my Steiner order. I'll just get it, transfer the spring, and shelve or sell the rest of the unit.
