Hydraulic Pump / Lines Leaking

Postby Johnbo » Sat Apr 29, 2017 2:23 am

I purchased the hydraulic pump kit from TM and removed and replaced the seals etc. on the pump. After installing the pump and lines it starting leaking where the two hydraulic lines go into the pump, it just pours out where the bolts are. Needless to say the hydraulic will not work. I watched the Steiner film on this so I thought I did everything correctly. Any thoughts on what may be causing this issue. On the links to rebuild the pump I was not able to access the pictures.

Thank you,
Johnbo

Did you put the two seals in where it attached to the pump...If its pouring out , it sounds like thats where the problem is...Either not in or crooked or nicked etc...If the fluid is not coming out where the manifold joins the pump , a line might need repair where it joins the pump ..( may have gotten cracked etc from moving it around...)....Dave

You're missing the two o-rings between the pump and manifold tubes

I did replace the two o-rings between the pump and manifold tubes. I will check the lines to see if they are cracked. Thank you.

The o-rings may be too thin. Be sure the correct o-rings are in place. There could be some thicker o-rings in the kit. Good Luck! ...Frank

I went out and took off the lines and discovered that there is a crack where it meets the housing, this explains the major leak.

I've seen many of them that have been brazed. There are also several of them on eBay and Craigslist currently. Good Luck and thanks for the update. ...Frank

A local welder friend of mine repaired several. I think they were brazed.

The lines are probably silver soldered.

I too thought my hydraulic o-rings were the source of a leak. Well I replaced them and low and behold I have a bigger squirt coming out from where the lines connect to the housing piece which bolts down onto the pump.. I tried welding this but I actually made it worse! I think I will get a replacement...
