When I was working in the garage turning wrenches for a living we got a
flyer from GM that stated that do to ethanol being added to gas that they
were having problems with gas kock (ping).
They also went on to say that to cure this to mix 87 & 89 octane with
93 octane.
They also stated that the US GOV. will let gas company's put up to 25%
in 87 & 89 octane but they can not put any in 93 octane.
I can not find the do it your self page on the web anymore but it stated,
To find if have more than 10% ethanol in your gas to put a small amount in a small open top container and place it in a safe place preferably in direct sun light.
If it turned maroon colored in about a hour then you had more than a 10% mix.
To say the least a good friend that has a lawn mower repair shop made a lot of money repairing 2 cycle engines that got mixed up with the 25% ethanol mix.
Remember alcohol removes oil not mix with it.
