Paint Job

Heard alot about Majic paint, but that is what I am using over red oxide primer. Want to protect the heavy use areas i.e. floor deck, rear lifter, etc. Has anyone sprayed lacquer over paint?

...and it should have an 11 bar grill ...looking for one to fix up that is cheap....but should the grill be IH white or IH red? Seen pictures of both. What are the proper decals....IH McCormack Farmall Cub? Thanks to all

the 1957 has the 11 bar grill. The behind hood badging on the side should be white/ cream and be a decal not painted ( if going for total correctness)

Attached is a picture of a 1956 I took at http://www.keystonetractorworks.com. Note the field behind the side hood badging is not correct. As I wrote it should be a white decal not painted red.

thank you. Does anyone have an image of the exact decals on the cowling? Many places sell "from 49 on", "52-54"...confusing.

If you look at the parts book under superstructure it will give you the different grills and badge by serial number.

The decals or graphics are near the front of the parts book

left: 750 011 R1
right: 750 012 R1

There are no decals on the hood, aside from the whitish background decal. Only the metal emblems. I believe the decal is NLA, so most paint the background.

What are the decals that look as though they are only letters with no background? I know it isn't authentic but they look pretty sharp.

They were used earlier and there were a few different styles depending on the year. The metal badges/ emblems were used in 1957. If you like the look it is your tractor go for it. The sheet metal is different so the decals may not fit well.

So to continue my search, what is the type of decal that appears as though the "fill" area is blank and only the letters are left behind...like the above picture from inairam?

The letters are metal emblems, not stickers/decals. Stickers/ decals were used earlier and later but not in this period. You can get them reproduction and or look on eBay if you do not have them. I think the grill and the emblems for the mid-50s cubs are most expensive to replace. you can also check with the site sponsors.
