IH-100 Scraper Blade Pivot
I recently acquired an IH-100 scraper blade that has been outside and unused for some time. I assume the blade pivots on the pin/bar that attaches to the fast hitch, but have not been able to move the bar from perpendicular to the blade. Every picture I have been able to find shows the blade set at the perpendicular setting so I am beginning to doubt my initial assumption. Is the blade designed to pivot? Any tricks to loosening a stuck pivot? A peek at the IH-100 manual might answer my first question, but I'm too new to the forum to access the manuals. Any help will be appreciated.

Any tricks to loosening a stuck pivot? Try your favorite penetrating oil and give it plenty of time to soak in. I'm talking days, here. The judicious application of some heat may help, also. Thanks for the quick response. I've been applying penetrating oil for the past 4-5 days without success so far. I'll give it awhile longer before I resort to heat, but think that might soften up any grease that has solidified in the pivot cylinder. Thanks again.

So far, Paul and Ringo have arrived. John and George were supposed to follow ages ago, but apparently have gone awol. Long story. - Circle of Safety: Y

If you want to get it freed up in any reasonable amount of time you're going to have to use heat. Oxygen-acetylene preferably, to get the BTUs. A regular propane torch won't get things up to temperature quickly enough, if ever.

Re: IH-100 Scraper Blade Pivot
I also have an IH -100 scrapper blade single point fast hitch came as part or set with '56 loboy. It was frozen and not budging. I Tried to grease it and force it on a tree but would not move. Next I took a sawzall and cut off the grease zerc as it was too rusted . I USED A thin funnel to feed oil in to the pivot. I also flipped it over and fed oil into theto the bottem pivot area. I Left it thinking it didnt work. A month latter I decide to hook it to tractor pull it put to driveway and apply some heat with a propane torch. Low and behold it was wiggling an inch in Either direction. With very subtle push and pull I managed to pull it rotate it fully No Force Needed. Iwould suggested a good soaking with oil any where possible and it will free up.

You already have more than the required number of posts to access the manuals. Good Luck.BadgerCub9361 wrote:......A peek at the IH-100 manual might answer my first question, but I'm too new to the forum to access the manuals.....

This is a very old thread. The original poster has not been on the site in over 5 years. If you want to have a new discussion of blades, start a new thread. I am locking this one.
