2 of mine are a bit hard to get in gear, as is the A, I did drain and put sae # 160 in one and it now shifts just fine, PLUS no transmission noise either!!! thanks; sonny

Re: hmm im stumped ...by a clutch
I had one like that. If you let the clutch out in neutral, you were in for quite a wait while the transmission spun down. As long as it was in gear when you pressed the clutch, it shifted fine.
Unfortunately they don't start too good in gear with the clutch pedal pushed.

Re: hmm im stumped ...by a clutch
Well, when I got the LoBoy back from the 15 years I had loaned it to a friend, he mentioned that the clutch was a big problem. So, in my diligence, I studied up on the clutch, watched the video for splitting the tractor a few times, found sources for ALL of the potentially necessary parts, read the book a few times, and reckoned I was ready to dig in. Went under the tractor, spent 60 seconds making an adjustment to the clutch. Done.
I hope yours goes as well - just sayin' - sometimes it does.
