CRS Disease strikes again! I want to grade the drives in our Twp. Cemetary with my Cub. Right now they should smooth up pretty good, but I can't remember if I should take the crown off first, pull the berms first, etc. I've done my driveway many times, but its a lot shorter and there's less chance of criticism.
Thanks, John

Re: Grading with a Cub
I've always pulled the berms first and reestablished the crown. Then work my way back from either side of the centerline to the shoulder to smooth. An 'A' profile of the road will make it shed water and last longer than a curved crown. Some good tips here: http://www.ruralhometech.com/roaddrivewaymaintenance/roadmaintenancearticles/gettingyourcrowninshape/tabid/100/default.aspx

Re: Grading with a Cub
Thanks Urbish! Its been about 20 years since my last turn in the barrel as a Twp. Trustee, so my memory on some maintenance techniques is a little foggy, Your link jogged the memory. We had a gully washer about a month ago ( a couple days after I was appointed to fill an unexpired term). Now I'm playing catch up, no road dept. (we contract our work) and trying to save the Twp. some money and earn my keep. My wife helped me rake and shovel the washed out and plowed out limestone this afternoon, tomorrow I'm planning some seat time. I hate to work in there on Sunday, but this weather won't hold forever and there's a burial Monday. Thanks again, John

Got er done. I know we'll get some more freeze and thaws, but the drives look a lot better than they did. I'd recommend that ruralhometech site to anyone looking for info on gravel drives or roads. A lot of good info there. John
