buying a cub with a oil leak ?

Postby garlicman » Fri Feb 03, 2017 6:01 pm

Hi, looking at buying a cub that is running, has been worked the last two years and has a good leak from the hydraulic touch control,( cylinder block ) been leaking for some time looking at the pic. Not sure of the year but has good tires. What would be a good value of the cub knowing that the hydraulic system needs a complete overhaul or it may only need a seal and or gasket.

if the unit works but only leaks it does not need a rebuild, most of the time the control valve on the touch control is what leaks, there is only one oring on it, a special one that far as I have found can only be bought from the dealer, there should be a boot on the outside of the valve also to keep the crap out but is missing or rotted off most of the time, the oring can be replace with out disassembly of the unit

Look and see if the block is leaking at the front of it, the control valve is at the front of the block. If it is leaking farther up the front, from the cylinder and piston, then it would have to be taken apart to fix that. You might need a light to see it.
Here is a listing from TM Tractor showing the control valve o ring. There is a pic there below showing where it goes.
It could leak where the tubes bolt onto the block, here is a new gasket for that. :)
