I'm getting ready to replace the carburetors on both my cub lowboys. What should the starting mixture & idle screw adjustments to get them both started?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Replacement Carburetor starting adjustments
Bob has you on the right track. IH carb jet is fixed and the air adjustment is all you can do except the idle rpm adjustment.

Re: Replacement Carburetor starting adjustments
Hi,
Here is a page from the Cub owner's manual telling how to adjust the idle mixture screw on the IH carburetor, at the lower left of the page.
I have found that it usually needs to be about 1 1/2 turns open. Yours could need less or more.

Re: Replacement Carburetor starting adjustments
I recently purchased a Lowboy with a carb that had the fuel inlet threads/casting busted and repaired with JB weld and then fuel line installed cross threaded and my 55 Low boy leaks like a sieve

Re: Replacement Carburetor starting adjustments
I believe that both the old carbs are IH. I got both replacements from Steiner and they both should be IH
Thanks

Re: Replacement Carburetor starting adjustments
Save those carbs, there is a good chance both can be repaired. Glen has you covered on settings. May need a little fiddling to find the sweet spot.

Re: Replacement Carburetor starting adjustments
I'd change the inlet needle valves, to the metal IH ones, right away, or at least order them, since the rubber tipped ones will leak, within a few months.
