securing leather boot on one touch

Postby nbsbbaker » Fri Jan 20, 2017 12:13 pm

Can someone give me some direction on how to secure the leather boot around the connecting rod on the One Touch unit? For the life of me I can't figure out how the wire that came with the boot is supposed to be used to secure it.

Just wrap it around and twist it together tight. If it breaks, get more wire.

they all did not take leather boots, they changed sometime mid 50's, then they used a rubber boot, if you are changing the boot on the top piston the boot fits inside the piston to keep the crap from getting inside the unit, the outside of the piston was left exposed

The wire slides inside a sleeve in the end of the boot, and when tightened pulls down into a groove in the lip around where the piston enter the housing. The ones that originally used a small boot that only covered the knuckle had no groove
