A question about stud installation. Should I use two steel nuts to crank in the stud, or will it work ok to use the brass nuts? Just wondering about how much torque I need to do the stud installation and if the brass nuts will take it.

Re: manifold studs
Near the front of the Service Manual are charts on torque ratings for various types of bolts and studs. If I read the charts correctly, 3/8" studs, min. of 21 ft lbs, max 24 ft lbs.
I would double nut with steel nuts for stud installation.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: manifold studs
I found a set of 3/8" manifold studs on the racks of HELP! products at my local Advance Auto, and at Auto Zone.
Just for giggles next time you're in one of the parts stores, just go take a peek at the HELP! products.

Re: manifold studs
Matt,
I first tried Advance Auto, some manifold studs (they did have 3/8-16/16) but not 3/8-16-24). I was told "John, the days of having bins of nuts and bolts is gone. They are listed as not having the proper Dorman part in stock(correctly) but were available to order.
I looked at the Advance Auto site which said they were in stock at my local branch. When I arrived, the staff person there could not locate any manifold studs. I doubt he knew what they were. I would not say that the website incorrectly stated they were in stock. Perhaps they are somewhere in the store.
I ended up ordering some from Summit Racing. I need 2 studs and will have 10. The shipping cost is less than making a special trip to Advance Auto.
