What size wrench to loose fan belt

Postby ShawnAgne » Sun Oct 23, 2016 9:26 am

Just wondering what size wrench I need to lossen the nut on the fan so I can slide it off. Biggest I have is 3/4" so not sure if it is a 13/16" or what.

Don't try to turn the nut, you will possibly break the ears on the bracket that holds the nut in place. Hold the nut and turn the fan shaft with a open end wrench. There are "flats" on the shaft for that purpose.

And the size wrench IS 13/16". As said, hold the nut at the rear of the shaft in place (13/16"), and use another 13/16" wrench on the fan shaft to loosen it. There isn't much room...I had to grind a wrench so it was thinner.

THanks, yeah knew I couldn't turn the nut in the back, just wasn't sure what size open wrench I needed.

You'd be surprised how many people do turn that nut on the back...and then break off a casting ear. Glad you're not one of them.
