Good evening
Can I offset a L59 by 6 inches? 12 inches? On a 48 cub?
Will be using the cub and mower in a high intensity orchard so need to be close to the tree with the deck.
Thx Ken

Don't know if you can offset the Woods mower.
Might consider a belly mounted Mott flail mower. They are off set to the right.
I have black walnut trees. I use a narrow framed Cub Cadet to trim close to the trees. The Cub Cadet has a much tighter turning radius than a Cub.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Even if you offset the deck, will you have height issues with branches whapping you in the face? I use my smaller riding mower to mow around the base of my fruit trees in my yard because of this.
Have you considered one of these offset tow mowers? http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/NTESearch?storeId=6970&ipp=24&Ntt=tow+mower

You should also consider a Cub-22 sickle bar mower. It will have a 4-1/2 or 5 foot reach to the side.
Two drawbacks:
1) The cut material will remain in large pieces, not broken down as a rotary leaves things.
2) The cutter bar may require more maintenance if you have dropped branches etc. under the trees.

Re: Offsetting a woods L59 mower!
It would take some serious fabrication to offset the 59 Woods. Plus the way the center extends out the front I don't think you would have the clearance. My suggestion would be a belly mount flail, or one of the smaller sturdy riding mowers or ZTRs for the work close to the trees, and the cub further out. A word of warning, not all the mowers sold as commercial grade actually are. Look for ones with the welded steel decks, not the stamped sheet metal. Mowing under walnut trees gives a mower a pretty good beating.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

If you have fairly flat ground you can adjust the wheels all the way in and that will get you pretty close to the trees. I have mine set narrow and I can run right next to obstructions without the tires touching. Just a couple times a year I'll go out with the weed whacker and trim the trees up nice, but the Cub does a good job on it's own for me.

Thank you all for the input. Currently we use ride on mowers and simply destroy them each season. Our trees are plant 18 Inches on centre in 300 ft rows so the cub is going to take on the job better then a ride on. Built to last. The flail looks like a possible upgrade. I will look into that. Thx Ken. Using an iPad and trying to figure oyt attaching pictures
