Hi All - I purchased my first tractor on Sunday - a 1948 Farmall Cub. It needs a few repairs, which I hope to do myself. It looks like there's a world of Info on this forum and plenty of friendly help!

Welcome to the forum! Is that 48 a trimmed dash or standard long dash?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: New Member to Cub Group
Welcome to the FORUM. The best place to learn about Cubs is at a CUBFEST. There's one this weekend within driving distance of you, CUBFEST N.E. at Oxford, New York. You'll have the chance to meet some forum members, learn about cubs and have a great time. This link should take you to the page: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=90688#p717821
AND here's a link that lists some FORUM members who will be there and some projects that are planned for the event: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=93396

Re: New Member to Cub Group
It's called the fuel tank support. I believe there were at least 3 different ones. The early model Cubs had a longer attachment point for connecting to the fuel tank. Somewhat later this was shortened considerably, hence the "trimmed" dash. After a short time it was revised again although not as long as the original. Raymond Durban's Cub Database probably has the SN when the different changes were made. It's at the top of the FARMALL CUB FORUM. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=87029 It's part number 13 on the attached photo from TC37F parts manual.FarmallCubGal wrote:As for the short or long dash, I haven't the foggiest!

Re: New Member to Cub Group
The Cub started with what is known as the long eared dash Sometime in 1948 the cub had about a two day period where a "trimmed dash" showed up. Then the long eared dash reappeared as it was before. Almost a year later, somewhere in mid 49, the dash was shortened to what we know as the short eared dash. Here is what a "trimmed dash" looks like.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Hi,
Here is info from TM Tractor showing the 2 different dashes, if you want to see it.
