First oil change.

Postby LRiddle » Thu Oct 06, 2016 10:08 am

I'm doing my first oil change on the Cub and, after reading suggestions about what oil to use, I decided to go with a synthetic, 30w, detergent,10w30, non synthetic, non detergent, 5w20, recycled, 40w homemade blend. It cost me about 50 bucks to buy all the different kinds and mix em up, but I think I got all my bases covered.

But seriously though, should I prime the pump before starting, or is there enough left in the system to make it work with out priming?

If you are changing the filter, it is very easy to squirt some oil down the passage to the pump, but I normally change the oil on a hot engine, so I never have bothered as it only seems to bleed down over time.

That oil choice you went with works great on the water pump as well. Don't forget to lube it!
