Cub 54 blade on a 140?
My SIL just inherited a Farmall 140. He was asking if my blade would fit his tractor, I haven't seen the tractor yet so I couldn't give him an answer but I told him I knew where I could find the answer, so here I am.

I don't think it will be a direct fit, the 140 blade is also wider. 'Course, anything is possible given enough effort and expense.

I was afraid it wasn't doable. He told me they haven't used the 140 in 25-30 years, and that there should be several implements "around the farm somewhere", maybe there is a blade to fit it buried under the mounds of "stuff" out there.

No, i don't think it will work on the 140. All of the dimensions would be wrong, so even if you could bolt it up, I dont think any of the lift mechanism would work. The blade for the 140 is 60-inches wide and quite a bit heavier built.
Definitely tell him to go digging for parts. Make sure to have him check fence rows if nothing is showing up in the barn. Implements for those tractors are pretty expensive, so I'd definitely spend some time digging for whatever he can find!
