FINALLY!! I can get back to work on my '56 Cub!

Postby Dale Finch » Fri Aug 19, 2016 10:05 pm

Last month, I hauled my "new" '56 Cub, 'Boris', out to the farm to finish up his restoration and put him to work. However, my sisters and I were going on a 3-week SCUBA diving trip to Papua New Guinea, so I covered him to keep off the dust...

BUT while gone, Mama Wren decided it was a good place to build her nest! This was yesterday:

And then today... :{_}: :{_}: :{_}: ...YEA!! They fledged!

So tomorrow I will get back to work on Boris, and hopefully have him mowing in the next week or two! :tractor:

Wrens seem to like building close to human activity.

So Dale, where did you dive in PNG? I've only snorkeled, but was so impressed--had to haul wife up by her shoulders because it was her first snorkeling and she was so entranced I thought she'd run out of oxygen. And in Cairns, Q'land, OZ, at the Great Barrier Reef some 15 years ago--fantastic. Friends in PNG who snorkeled told of packs of tiger sharks outside of Madang, so they dropped to the bottom and waited for the shark pack to pass. And, while not snorkeling nor diving, I was hauled out of the water in which I was surf casting by villagers because that same spot some months earlier a 21' croc had taken a villager. Ok Ok, I got out of the water...jeez.

On, dry land now, fooling with the Cub.

We were up along the northeast coast of New Britain Island, from Kimbe Bay (Walindi Resort) to Rabaul then back. My 2 sisters are avid underwater photographers, but I sold all my photo stuff...too much hassle! They got some great shark photos, but we are mostly into the small/macro critters!!

Great fun, and believe it or not, it's easier than snorkeling! Try it out!
