I had a shock today as I walked by my rear tractor tire on the cub and saw daylight where I shouldn't. I was missing a wheel bolt! One of the remaining ones had also backed out and I turned it (with my fingers) 3 times around before it seated. Only one was actually tight. Has this happened to any one else? I would encourage each of you to give your wheel bolts a wrench check and report back. I plan to keep a better eye on them from now on...I had never checked them in 3 years since this particular cub arrived...

Good to see you noticed it before you had a three wheeler!

I've had that happen, once. Tightened wit a pneumatic wrench, and they still loosened!

Re: Wheel Bolts - Have you checked yours lately?
Glad to here you caught that when you did.You may need to take a look at the holes in the wheel and see if they still have the proper shape or if they look worn, also check the shoulders on the lug bolts to see if they are still smooth and even,if the bolts and wheels do not seat properly they will very likely be a chore to keep tight. You could buy new lug bolts pretty reasonable at napa or other parts supply in your area.If wheel holes are worn you could probably buy longer lug bolts and put a jam nut on the inside of the wheel as this would keep them from working loose.Just my 2 cents.

Guess what showed up while weeding today? The missing wheel bolt came unearthed in a part of the garden I have only run cub through once! Now I know it was only gone for about a two months... -Tom

I've had them loosen up on me but never all the way out. I usually hear a clunk or some sound that lets me know.
