RPM drop with hydraulics move

Postby RBS » Tue Aug 16, 2016 7:33 pm

I have a 60's (4 bar grill) Cub. After warming up the engine and letting it run at idle speed, if I move the hydraulics up and down, there's little or no change in engine's load/RPMs. If I run it at a faster RPM and go thru the up and down movements; again, there's little or no change in the engine during the up movement. However, going thru the downward movement puts a good size load on the engine that results in a big drop in RPM's and noticeable smoke from the exhaust. Is normal?

The Touch Control puts more load on the engine to move the arms to the rear or down, than forward or up. All of them I've seen are that way. :)
