PTO Fitting

Postby Ricaroo » Thu Sep 08, 2005 11:57 am

I put the grease gun to the fitting on the pto and pumped it over 20 times then i figured I better stop. Where is the grease going, I thought I would see it coming out around the shaft, but I didnt. could it be that dry? I have never greased it before until someone mentioned it in another post.
I never realized there was a grease fitting

Rick, the excess grease went into the tranny / differential case. A couple of shots once or twice a year is plenty. That bearing also gets splash lubed from the gear lube in the case. The only time you really need to worry about greasing that bearing is if you are using the pto on a stationary job such as a buzz saw etc where it will not get splash lubrication.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
