Touch control inop.

Postby Cub driver » Tue Aug 02, 2016 4:01 pm

Fired up the cub today and mowed about 8-900 feet down the fence line and noticed the mower support chains were a little too slack, adjusted the TC lever with no response. So I took it to the shed and drained the hydraulic fluid and it had the correct amount in it and it was fairly clean with no trash. I have no gauge to check the pressure but after reading some of the posts here, it seems like the problem may be in the TC itself. Any thoughts or ideas will be helpful. If necessary I can go to Harbor Freight, it looks like they will have a gauge.

First check the oil level in the crankcase if not over full then I would check the pump. There are a few stories on this site about the gear coming off the pump with this same result.

Could be plugged orifice in the Touch-Control unit. Review this thread:

I've checked both of these ideas, still no TC. The gear is still on the front of the pump too and the nut is staked. Think I'll tear down the TC next week and overhaul it. I think it would be a good idea to get a gauge and check the pressure first.
