Well uncle Ed is obviously mistaken. When I checked out the mains they were also. 010 under. Could have been done previously. I ordered .010 under. I'll gage everything when the parts arrive.

CRS, my tag line. The older I get the more jumbled my memory. If you asked me a question, I would probably have to research the answer.ctltmp wrote:Well uncle Ed is obviously mistaken.
Any way, I wouldn't fault uncle Ed.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: 49 Cub Rod Bearing Question
when a machine shop resurfaces the journals on a C-60 crank they are usually machined to 1/2 thousands clearance. the maximum wear clearance is .002 to .003 If worn round. anything more would cause low oil pressure and knocking when engine at at operating temp at 1800 RPM.

Re: 49 Cub Rod Bearing Question
Well everything checked out on the rod and main bearings. The rods plastigaged ot .0015 clearance and the mains .0015-.002. Should be ok to go with that.
Then..................I ran into the head bolt issue (another post), grrrr. My dreams of hearing the old boy fire before my vacation was over vanished at around 5:30 yesterday evening............
