I've got a leak at the outlet of the fuel tank, not bad, just seeps a bit (no fuel leak is ever good). The two sediment bowls I have, each has buggered up threads and leak so I went the 'eliminate-the-sediment- bowl' route. Installed brand new brass pipe nipple and Teflon taped the threads, still leaks, the afore mentioned seep. Not being a plumber, how do I fix the leak? I'll assume that the threads in the tank are buggered up as well.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Fuel Tank Leak
Bill, I've coated the threads with RedKote. Tank has to be dry and clean, as do the threads. Allow a day to dry, before refilling the tank.

Re: Fuel Tank Leak
Bill, Could it be leaking from the "weld" around the outside of the fitting rather than from the threads? I'd sure think extra wraps of teflon would seal the threads. If you don't need it removeable, you could JB the brass pipe into the threads.

Re: Fuel Tank Leak
Bill, did you chase the threads in the tank before installing either option? There may be a burr or some other imperfection that is preventing the seal.

Re: Fuel Tank Leak
Thanks for your input.
Supplies are in hand, muriatic acid, acetone and RedKote. I plan to run the Cub out of fuel, clean the tank, chase the outlet threads, RedKote it and then RedKote the sediment bowl. That should solve my problem.
Thanks again for your input.

Re: Fuel Tank Leak
Bill, I have never been able to seal threads on gas or diesel with teflon tape, always starts leaking again. Always had to resort to a paste. If you clean it good and aren't worried about looks you could always put some epoxy on it after screwing it back in, I've done that on some things as well.

I believe the yellow teflon tape is fuel proof.

All the teflons are gas resistant. The yellow is just thicker than the white.
