Here is a weird one, and I am confused. Which oil filter cartridge does my 1947 Cub use? The sticker on the housing says IH 257867R92, and Rudi on the website stated I should use 376373R91. There are NOT the same units.....so now I am perplexed.
I need to grab a filter tomorrow from my IH Dealer and would like to get the correct one. Which is it?

As Jim has said, over time the part numbers have been changed. In fact there is a new and improved CaseIH Parts list upgrade that the dealers are now trying desperately to use.
Some things just aren't working, but... for the most part, if you take in an old part number, the new one will pop up when the old one is entered into the system. Almost foolproof, but not quite.
That is why I have always recommended the 3 most important manuals from Binder. These are a must have.
Some of the most common questions that I have seen whether it be here on FarmallCub.com, ATIS Cub Forum or YTMag's IH Forum, relate to common replacement parts such as Gaskets, Filters, Belts, Plugs, Carb Re-build Kits and the like. If you were to run a search on any of these forums on any of these queries, the amount of hits would astound you.
Most of these items by the way are available at your local CaseIH Dealer. If you do not have a CaseIH dealer in your area, then there are many available, from Carter & Grunewald, to Columbia Tractor via TM Tractor Parts, or JP Tractor Salvage.
Maybe it is just me, but I find I can usually get all my tuneup needs for my Cubs at my One-Stop-Shop - my local CaseIH Dealer. Most of the Parts people at a dealership either know their parts, or there is someone there that you can communicate with, should the counter person be one of those Not Exactly's
Unfortunately, and this is just my experience, most of the counterpeople at NAPA, UAP, APM and other Auto Supply Houses, look at you and laugh, or treat you like you are an idiot or from outerspace whenever you ask for a Cub part. I guess it is the frustration factor that also helps keep me at my dealer...
As John say;s "I don't do hurry up well"
I do not do "Suffer fools lightly - well" and I really do not handle stress, so I stay away from it as much as I can. Thank God, Greyhound and my CaseIH Dealer
Guys:
BTW, the funeral for Paul Babineau was this past Friday. We are hoping that the dealership will be open as soon as the family can possibly arrange it.
We need to support our local dealers, ifn we want to keep our dealers local.

THANK
Thanks to all, especially Rudi. Please understand I was not questioning your advice, I was going to buy the filter you told me to buy, but would have never felt comfortable putting it into a housing with a sticker telling me to buy a different part number!
Again, thanks for all the help. Tomorrow, I am after a gas cap (can't wait 6 months sinc ethis one is original, yet it leaks), oil filter (the right one), and a valve tappet cover gasket.
Thanks again!

Oh my God:
I just reread my post... Here I was being my tongue in cheek, dry sense of humour (and I am not even British) (sorry Pat } normal self and never even realized what I said and how it could be taken.....
I really apologize. I am sorry.
Oooops my Canadian is showing again...
I was speaking about the counter type people. Last week I ran into another one... leave us say, I didn't really enjoy it, but stiff upper lip and all that, I managed to get through it.
I feel so at home here, sometimes I forget that there are people who really do not know my sense of humour all that well....
I do apologize if I offended anyone... whoaa Nellie... I guess I need to reread a little more closely with an eye to a double entrendre or two..
