172 Planter

Postby wrz » Sun Jun 26, 2016 4:12 am

Just got a 172 planter and have a few questions for the pros.(1) It came with a new chain and need to make two lengths 62 and 29 links. What is the easiest way of opening and closing the chain end ? Special tool? (2) The spiral drop tube has some kinks in it and has some rust. Has anyone made new ones and how would it be done. (3) The rear press wheel has two settings (one tight together and one with a gap). What is the correct time to use the two settings?

Didn't know the planter wheel had two settings. Never paid attention or saw that in the manual.

On the chains just put one end in a vise with the link your wanting to remove hanging out and peck it with a hammer. It'll knock right out. IH did make a chain breaker tool, I have one but have no idea how they actually work.
