Hello all, thanks again for the help I have been receiving thus far!! I have a few new questions about my 1947 Cub.
1. The Cub has the hydraulics and they work GREAT, however, the only "hitch" I have is the draw bar. The hydraulic lift is above the drawbar, and as I said, it works great. I would like to start buying some "toys" (implements) and I am assuming I need something other than just the draw bar. I have all the manuals, catalogs, etc. and I have read about the "fast hitch" on some implements. I am assuming I need some sort of receptacle for these fast hitch implements, correct? I also have the 90 degree wheel for the PTO for a mower, but at this time I am thinking about a plow and a disc, so please let me know what else I should be looking for to attach these.
2. According to Fram, the old IH oil filter (I think it was a 257867R92), can be replaced by a Fram C137A. My local Fleet Farm does not have this unit and I was wondering if this is something I need to get from my local CASE/IH dealer or if there is a trick to getting these somewhere?
3. I have an oil leak from around the valve cover on the side of the motor. Looks very simple to replace, but again, how is the availability of this gasket? I get a few drops after the unit has been running and I think is would be very easy to replace this gasket if they are available. I want to change the oil, so I will do the gasket, filter and oil all at once. This unit is almost museum quality as far as the restoration goes, so I would like to get rid of this oil leak.
4. When I first got it home and ran it around year a bunch, I noticed it kicked out about a pint of antifreeze from the "puke" tube behind the radiator. I waited until the tractor cooled, and I opened the radiator cap. The level is JUST below the cap, so I am assuming, since there is no provision for expansion of the fluid, it was just too full and I should not worry since no more has come out and I have run it a LOT this weekend.
5. Finally, the gas cap is original as well, and my pasture is pretty bumpy, sp when I drive around, I get gas leaking from around the cap. The rubber seal looks a little old, so I am hoping there is someway to restore the "suppleness" of the rubber gasket, or there is a gasket I could buy for it. Any ideas on this one?
Again, thanks for all the GREAT help thus far, I am just loving this website!!!

I got my oil filter from http://www.valu-bilt.com. The radiator will purge out coolant until it finds its own level. There is a sign up for a free gas cap on Rudi's site. It might take a long time to get it though. The new gas cap wont leak. Hope this helps.

Well, a lot of the questions you have can be answered pretty easily I think..
Ahh, yup. And it is not only a receptacle that you need. You are going to need a complete fast hitch. That is going to hurt, cause they are expensive and not easy to locate usually.
Fast Hitch
"Fast Hitch with depth adjusting lever"
Is this what you mean?
Get the proper Oil Filter for your Cub from you CaseIH Dealer.... IH Part # 376 373 R91 Element, Oil Filter.
Get the proper gasket from you CaseIH dealer - IH Part# 251 371 R1 Gasket, Valve Tappet Cover.
First, the Cub has a Thermo-Siphon system, ergo no pressure. Means that the Cub will seek it's own level for the coolant - this is generally about an 1" to 1-1/2" below the neck. Don't worry about it. Biggest mistake new Cub Owners make (including me ), is to overfill the rad -- it is not like any other system. Fill until you see a bit of coolant - STOP - run it, when it is finishes upchucking, it will be at the proper level. Just check it every now and then.
Real easy here - Navistar Free Gas Cap Offer Form. Download it, print it, mail it... wait 6 months, cap will come in the mail. If you have any other Farmalls, request those caps at the same time.
Reason for Gas Cap Offer Form -- FIRE -- usually caused by:
Slow down, if you are going to be working in a bumpy area, keep less fuel in the tank... say 3/4 instead of full. Pay attention, don't get leaky, then you won't get warm.. Too many tractor owners have been hurt this way...
Hope all this helps..
