How do I get the hood off of my Cub? The flange on the air cleaner pipe won't fit through the hole in the hood. Does the air cleaner pipe come off of the air cleaner from underneath? I looked but it looks like the air cleaner and pipe are one peice.
Thanks in advance,
Scott

Re: Hood removal
Remove the air cleaner cap, that thing that covers the air cleaner tube, it is above the hood. It may be stuck tight and take a few gentle jolts to come loose.
Once air cleaner cap is removed and the hood is unbolted, the hood is elevated to clear the air cleaner tube. Being old and whimpy, I empty the fuel tank before removing the hood.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: Hood removal
Thanks for the reply. I've got the cap off. There is a ring on the tube that is causing my issue. Not sure if the ring is supposed to come off too?

Ha the jokes on me... I looked at it closer and realized the inside of the cap was stuck on the tube. That's the ring I was seeing. Got it now. Thanks for the help!! I guess it's been a long day.....

Re: Hood removal
Hi,
Here is a page from a Cub owner's manual showing how to remove the hood. This is the 1st style of hood. They don't mention the 2 wiring clips welded under the hood, along the side. If you have those, and wires are in them, you need to bend them down so the wires will come out, then when you put the hood on again, bend them up with the wires in them.
It sounds like the air cleaner cap is broken, or came apart, not sure what without a picture. Here are new ones below, at TM Tractor. There were 2 styles, it says, both are on the page.

Re: Hood removal
It sounds like you need a new air filter cap, that sleeve is not supposed to come out. If you cannot figure a good way to repair it, one of the memebers can probably supply you with a replacement at a reasonable price.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
