Blades
Ok so I have a Farmall Belly deck on my Cub. I have seen the topic on the woods deck requiring three blades. I can't seem to find the blades (two bush hog style) that go on this deck. Been to tractor supply and a few others. These blades have two hole to mount, not sure if these were a modification at home. Any sudgestions. It's on a 1952 Cub.

Re: Blades
Do you know what brand mower you have???? A picture would help. Go to top of page and check out the manuals, to see if you can find the correct mower.

Re: Blades
You need to fully identify the mower deck. Once the mower deck has been accurately identified you should be able to find the blades at a dealership or on line. With the deck fully identified you should be able to find a parts break down on line.
There are/were many makes and models of mid mounted mower decks installed on Cubs.
You can post photos of the mower deck and someone on this board will probably be able to identify it. Also, there is a section on this site with photos of some of the mowers that mount on a Cub.
Top of page, manuals, contain parts break down for some mowers.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: Blades
Thanks I will try to dig around on it and see what I can find. I just bought it recently and have been doing all the fluid changes, greasing and general maintenance on it, but I will look for a model. Thank you!

Re: Blades
I'm gonna throw a couple caution flags here. First the Woods 42C uses two single hole blades if I'm not mistaken. Not sure why yours has two holes. The skids are from the early model (42C-1) so maybe that's why. But since you said bush hog style I'm thinking swing blades that are on the later 42C-2,3,4 & 6. Definitely figure out what you have before spending money on replacements.
Second flag is you're at a minimum missing a section of the lifting mechanism. The correct one is in three pieces. It may be the angle of the picture but the lift arm shouldn't be that close to the pedals. I can't tell if the piece bolted to the rocker arm is to long, or leaving out the middle piece throws off the angle that much.

Re: Blades
Can't tell much from the photos. Are the blades fixed, or do they swing?

Re: Blades
Definitely a 42C-1. Those are "breakaway" blades. They are fixed until you hit something solid and then the outside bolt slides out of its slot and the blade swings back. Then you crawl under, loosen the outside bolt, reposition the blade(s), tighten the bolt and go look for the next thing to hit. The 42C-1 doesn't have an overrunning clutch on the spindle so when you push the clutch in the blades drive the rear wheels until the blade spinnings stops. Also looks like it may be a welded fin blade.
Still not sure what's going on with the lift linkage. Definitely doesn't look like it would float over a hump setup that away. Take a look at page 14 this is from the PDF manuals above and this is a 42C-6 but a much clearer picture and the setup is the same for the lift linkage.http://www.farmallcub.com/[ Sorry, direct links to manual section is not allowed. ]/files/OEM%20Implement%20and%20Attachment%20Manuals%20and%20Brochures/Woods%20Mowers/Woods%2042C-6.pdf

The upright piece of the linkage is 2 parts connected with a single bolt. Unless it is stuck, the 2 parts should be able to jackknife together. The bolt is right by the clutch pedal, hard to see in the picture.

I saw the bolt but didn't think the correct one could get in to a straight line, unless something is put together wrong, due to that little bent over tab on the end of one of the bars. Maybe it got flipped over or hammered straight????? If that bolt's tight I don't think the deck is going to have any float the way it is currently. Anything pushing up on the deck, is most likely going to bend or break something.
