Transmission / finals oil
Right I've put the white flag up!
I have loooked at old Cub manuals that specify EP 90 oil and later ones that say Hy-tran, and I've read on posts that one should look at the latest manuals for advice on oils etc.
Hy-tran seem to be hygroscopic, so can I revert to EP 90?
If so, which EP 90 as here there seem to be different specs?
(I did do a word search to see if this has been covered before, couldn't find it)

Re: Transmission / finals oil
Not to continue the which oil is best discussion.
I use generic 120-140W gear lub from the farm and ranch store. Reason, I purchase 2 1/2 gallon containers and use the same gear lub in all my machines.
I would use what ever gear lub you normally use.

Re: Transmission / finals oil
Just about anything from the dead dinosaur aisle at your favorite store is fine. Use anything that says "gear oil" and has a number in the vicinity of 100.
Cubs are not precision machines and most of the discussion and debate, in my opinion, is personal preference. My preference is to drain the old, refill with new, and move onto something else.
