tranny noise

Postby housebg » Tue May 17, 2016 12:01 pm

There has always been a noise in the tranny but now it seems very loud. And it is hard to shift reverse is near Impossible to get out of gear first is tight ,second tight and third is hard . It seems to stop when you push in the clutch and it is rolling . Going to drain and flush with diesel then refill with heavy oil and thought about putting in a can of STP . Any Ideas and any help would be great Billy :help:

Take the cover off the top and have a look inside. Got to be a bearing or something of that nature going bad if it's loud and hard to get out of gear. New oil/STP probably won't help it.

STP would only mask whatever symptoms you are experiencing, at best. I suspect loose or bent shifter forks or worn shift lever ball. Follow 49Cubby's advice.
