Converting to a aftermarket light switch ?
OK I have a 1949 cub with this wiring diagram for the lights switch ( http://s101.photobucket.com/user/farmal ... 1235298237 ) I just purchased this switch ( http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/images/g/9 ... s-l225.jpg ) which is an entirely different set up with one less wire, am i supposed to put the generator and hot lead under the same screw? did I purchase the wrong switch if not how do I wire it ?

Your diagram is for the cubs that have a cutout rather than a voltage regulator. The extra lead controls the charge rate via the L, H positions of the light switch. If you still have a cutout, single coil inside the housing on top of the generator, you need an original style light switch, or a regulator. If you get a regulator get good one, not one of the cheapies. /the cheapies don't last, if they work to begin with. This is the wiring diagram for the switch you have.

Re: Converting to a aftermarket light switch ?
Cutouts were normal until some time in 1950, I believe, so your 1949 would have a cutout.
The correct 4-position switches are available. It would be easier to get the correct switch than try to cobble the wrong one in.
The only way to correctly use the wrong switch is to convert the tractor to a regulator, which is more money and some rewiring. Much more complex solution compared to just getting the correct switch for what you have.

Hi,
I'm not sure if you are using a voltage regulator or cutout.
You might be seeing the newer style 4 position switch made for a voltage regulator system. The switch is fully for the lights.

Re: Converting to a aftermarket light switch ?
I have a 1948 Cub with cut out relay. I purchased a new switch (part #128967A1) from the CNH dealer. The replacement was a 3 position switch for Lo charge, Hi charge and lights. I like the switch better than the old four position which had an extra position for "Dim" lights that I never used. A connection diagram came with the 3 position switch with all the correct connections for a generator with cut out relay. It works great.
