Rob, I'm assuming you refer to the seat material. I searched without luck for the perfect fabric, a replication of the original. I settled on the best I could find: a silver fabric from Sailrite.com.

http://www.sailrite.com/Cordura-1000-13-5oz-Silver-60

It is now $17.50/yd. First I ordered a sample for about $0.99 and then I went ahead with it. BTW, my seat fabric is pulling out of the seat edges now because either the rubber inset isn't large enough or the fabric needs to be bunched up more under the fold-down metal edge. I'll get to it after I've done everything else that needs to be done here....

As for Sailrite, I'm a long term completely satisfied customer there. Jeff is my go-to guy there but others are equally smart regarding all sorts of fabric issues on outdoor applications. I've bought outdoor UV-resistant fabric to cover my boat's cockpit, sail kits that they designed (perfectly) for my boat, and the best I could find for the Farmall Cub seat. It isn't replicating the original but was the best of the compromises that I found.

Still happy with it. The fabric sure is durable.

Dick

IIRC Bob Buxton that advertise in the print edition of Red Power Magazine and rebuils the IH pan seats like new ended up getting it custom made to match the original IH.

There's been another thread on covering the seat recently (this year). Do a search for Darrel Darst.

Believe he had shoulder surgery or something to limit him. But I think that other thread has his email address. I don't know if he's keen to give out his silver fabric source or not.

All 3 seats I've covered have worn well and stayed in place over the years. The only thing is that they've faded; I used black canvas from a local fabric store. Silver wouldn't be prone to fading like black. As as a second thought, I wouldn't cover a seat unless I had a barn or shed to put the tractor in. I don't, so I use a trash bag to cover the seat when not in use.

Yes, after taking an upholstery class at the local Jr. College. Lot of work - this was my 2nd try, didn't get the first one quite centered right and it wasn't rolled/pleated. Had a local lady the does embroidery work do the lettering (computer program on her sewing machine). Next one has to be for my H - cushion is completely gone on it! Dusty B
