Deluxe Seats

Postby ricky racer » Tue Apr 26, 2016 3:07 pm

Are Deluxe seats made for little people? Every Cub I get with a Deluxe seat I can't hardly operate the clutch and brakes from the seat. I have to move the seats back about 3"-4" in order to move freely. I find it hard to believe that additional mounting holes weren't provided to adjust the seat location. Heck, the pan seat offered some adjustability. In order to move the seat back I have to drill three new holes.
Okay, that's my rant for today.

This is a big shortcoming of the Cub deluxe seat. The 140 seat is on a track so you can reposition it, plus you can mount the whole thing in different holes on the seat supports. Someone had drilled another set of holes on my Cub's deluxe seat, and it's about right for me.

You have to realize that these were designed for the average male back in the day. Five foot nine and 170 pounds.

Yep, I've re-drilled and mounted mine back in every one I've owned. I'm 6'4", 240#, so I'm pretty big for a Cub! Even with the seat mounted back an additional 2-inches or so, I still cannot get my knees up under the steering wheel and kind of "slide" into the seat.

Very true! Rick, you and I are at least 6" taller and say 50 or 60 lbs. heavier....give or take.

If I had to do much field work on a Super A---140 I would insist on one, they really improve the ride on those models especially. Even on the cub the extra back support is nice.
