1948 FCub, six volts positive ground. The starter has quit! I had this thing rebuilt by a local shop about 10 years ago. Has worked great since, now nothing. I removed it from the tractor to test. Six volt does nothing...twelve volts spins it slowly.
Is there a how-to on rebuilding a started? I took it apart, cleaned and polished everything except the brushes. They scared me. Still nothing Good thing I can hand crank it to start. The grass won't wait.

Re: Starter trouble
Remove the starter switch on top of starter, they very often will get burned from arcing , burnish it with with crocus cloth or gently with a file , then do the same to the contact on the switch. If that doesn' t fix the problem I suggest having it tested by a good starter repair shop. Those starters are very rugged and seldom go bad except for needing brushes.

I don't mess with them. If it's not the switch, it goes to an auto electric man.

Re: Starter trouble
Thanks Charlie but I can hand crank it to get the grass cut...I have removed the switch and using jumper cable directly to the contact, still nothing. Auto electric places are hard to find around here I was told there was a place over in Emanence KY.
