Hi Everyone! I'm new to the Cub club and so far am loving it. I'm in the process of getting a tired old 1949 cub up and running. The tractor as a 3 position light switch and unfortunately I bought a 4 position. The tractor is an original 6v positive ground system. Are there wiring diagrams available to help me replace the 3 position switch to the 4 position?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Steven

I think you will be helped if you go to the post48 not charging below. John was a big help. I have a 49 as well and I am having wiring issues but I think Johns answers will work for me.

Re: 4 position switch from 3 position
I believe a '49 would have originally had a four position switch with a cutout. Since who knows what has been changed in the last 67 years and it really doesn't matter at this point just figure out what each wire does. One will be your voltage coming in from the ammeter or wherever. Make sure it has a fuse in line somewhere between the switch and the battery. One wire will go to the front lights, one to the rear light. Your new switch should be labeled or a diagram with it what each terminal is for. Don't worry about a little smoke/burning smell from a new dimming resistor, it's just never got hot before.

Re: 4 position switch from 3 position
If you have a regulator on the generator ( Batt, gen, L, F terminals), you can ignore the F connection on the 4 position. The rest of the wiring remains the same. You can see the diagrams I posted at
http://s101.photobucket.com/user/farmal ... 0Diagrams/
The ones with cutout used the 4 position switch, and ones with regulator used the 3 position switch.

If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
