Got the tie rods cleaned up and fixed that weld where the one had been broken. Ground the previous weld off, cut back apart, inserted a short piece of steel rod and re-welded then ground round.

You're doing a good job on getting things back in good order.

Great tip to use oven cleaner on stained lens. Those rust stains are difficult to remove.

Keep up the good work! :coffee:

I love being a machinist. Needed to replace the headlight nuts. I destroyed them getting them off. They are 5/8-11 thread but are 1" o.d. Most 5/8-11 nuts are 15/16". Made some from 1" hex stock.

Used the gantry I built to get the engine off yesterday so brought the flywheel to work to get it right today. Cleaned it, removed starter ring, faced clutch surface (took .004" off of it to clean it up) and installed starter ring back on. I did turn the starter ring around and now it looks like new. Little trick I learned from watching dad growing up.

Tie rod holder is broke. I thought about welding it but I don't want to have to fix it again so I just made a new one.

The lift rod had a piece of angle iron welded to it and it also had 2 holes for the cotter pin on one end and it was a little worn and bent. Fixed all that.
